“腦有所依” Care Giver for Elderly Support Apps

Project Brief

  • Creating a Shih Wing Ching Foundation mobile app with a simple and 24/7 supporting function for caregivers to ask for immediate support.
  • Volunteers to handle the cases by the APP.

Problem Statement

Due to the target group of this project is elderly caregivers, so the challenge would be:

  1. The technology barrier between Elderlies and Mobile / Tablet devices
  2. Ways to keep the passion on app usages and user motivations

Working carergivers are busy at daytime and lack of services at night provided by related organizations.
Elderly caregiver are too old to provide comprehensive care to patients and may get hurt easily.

Mrs Ho
Age: 68
takes care of her husband who needs a wheelchair and suffers from dementia

Mrs Ho is an elderly caregiver because her husband suffers from dementia therefore she has to take care of her husband everyday.

She is also a chronic patient suffering from high blood pressure therefore she needs to take medicine regularly. However, she will sometimes forget to do so.

Due to the illness, her husband would often lose his temper which makes Mrs. Ho feeling depressed.

Mrs. Ho must keep herself at home in order to taking care of her husband which makes her feeling bored.

Because of her age, she worried that she cannot handle sudden emergency and afraid to trouble others.

Ms. Luo is a working caregiver. As she is a full-time worker, she does not familiar with her mother’s daily routine. Therefore, there will be frictions between she and her mother easily.

Ms. Luo does not have too much knowledge on cognitive impairment patient at different stages. Recently, Ms. Luo has to work from home due to the epidemic. Her mother starts losing her temper because of the lack of attention from her daughter.

Miss Luo does really need some help as most social welfare organization does not provide consultation services at night. At the time, the relationship with her mother is getting more worse.
